During the soldering process, the solid and liquid phases react with each other, producing vapors, gases, and aerosols that act as air pollutants. Extracting pollutants at the source is a basic requirement, as stipulated in Section 3(1) of the Workplace Regulations and Annex 3.6, “Ventilation.” Installing particulate filters (e.g., particulate filters) upstream of gas scrubbers (activated carbon) ensures that the gas scrubbers do not become ineffective.
